Our involvement in DO IT FOR DOLLY DAY, started with Melissa from our Bairnsdale Depot. Through her friendship with Carlee, who owns Bairnsdale Horse Centre, Dolly’s Dream became a local movement for hope and change. Carlee started spreading the message by organising blue t-shirts with the Dolly’s Dream logo. This simple idea raised awareness and important funds to fight bullying and cyberbullying.
What began as just a few shirts has grown into a range of more than 70 items. Every purchase made for Dolly’s Dream directly supports and funds their work across Australia.
Dolly’s Dream was created in memory of Dolly Everett, a 14 years old whose life ended because of bullying and cyberbullying. Her story touched people across Australia and started important conversations about how bullying affects young lives. Wanting to make a real difference, Dolly’s parents, Tick and Kate, started Dolly’s Dream to help build a kinder culture for future generations.
The mission is simple: change the culture around bullying, encourage kindness, and support young people and families when they need it most. Today, DO IT FOR DOLLY DAY is about more than just morning tea. It’s a chance to support a movement working for a safer, kinder future.
Since 2018, Dolly’s Dream has reached thousands of schools, run hundreds of workshops, and helped families with practical tools and counseling. Key programs include the Schools Awareness Program, the 13DOLLY Bullying Support Line, and the Beacon Cyber Safety App and Support Hub.
The impact is real:
The growth of DO IT FOR DOLLY DAY shows what a community can do. In 2019, there were just 82 events and $70,000 raised. Last year, there were 2,200 registrations and over $1.9 million raised. This shows the power of community, kindness and the desire for a brighter future for young people.
Thank you for supporting Dolly’s Dream. Whether you donate, buy merchandise, or just help spread the word, you’re helping to build a kinder future for everyone.
